Since 3 generations, Grosso Legnami srl has dealt with buying and selling of Chestnuts and Marrone around all Stura Valley and neighboring valleys.
We buy chestnuts every day directly from the private farmer, who pick-up chestnuts in the woods of our valley, then works them in our plants.
With our equipment, fresh chestnuts are cleaned and calibrated with diameters 27+; 26; 25; 24 and at each diameter, the chestnut is channeled into boxes and big bags with a special label on which the appropriate diameter is inserted.
We buy, calibrate and process the chestnut in such a way that within 24 hours the fruit comes from the forest and is returned to the buyer warehouse guaranteeing a fresh product.

The Valle Stura has a rich and varied heritage of floral and tree varieties.
Among these, some of them are more developed because they were more exploited by human labor, thus contributing to defining the landscape of the valley more clearly.
Emblematic is the case of chestnut woods, in particular characteristic about the landscapes of the middle and lower valley, where there are also countless centuries-old chestnut trees (Roccasparvera, Valloriate, Rittana, Moiola). In Stura Valley chestnut cultivation in the past has represented an activity of great economic importance and is configured as an activity still important for the inhabitants of the valley who continue to devote time and care to the operations of cleaning and pick-up the precious "bread of the poor".
